Bunnyfest!

Bunny lovers united for the annual Bunnyfest to benefit San Diego House Rabbit Society at Balboa Park. Attendees brought their bunnies in harnesses, on strollers and holding them in their hands for a fun-filled afternoon of bunny-themed vendors, veterinarians, agility demonstrations and more. All funds benefit abandoned bunnies cared for at the SDHRS Adoption Center.

Volunteering for Abandoned Rabbits

Rabbits are the third most relinquished animals to shelters. They are found abandoned in empty homes, running loose in neighborhoods and left in boxes in front of pet stores. San Diego House Rabbit Society is San Diego County’s largest rabbit rescue group and operates its own shelter in Kearny Mesa.

Gary Weitzman

Gary Weitzman, a veterinarian with more than 25 years of animal welfare experience and a published author, joined the San Diego Humane Society as their president in 2012. A significant focus for the SDHS is a movement called “Getting to Zero”, a comprehensive plan to save the life of the more than 45,000 healthy and treatable animals in San Diego Animal Welfare Coalition shelters each year.

Costume contest, doggy vendors, rescue animals and more awaited guests at Jingle Paws 5K to benefit ACES Foundation! Doggies and their owners had a chance to run and walk amongst the beautiful Water Conservation Garden while helping raise funds for helping animals. Many dogs were dressed like Santa, and all had the chance to pose for a picture with the real Santa Claus!

Calling All Veterinarians!

The Foundation for Animal Care and Education (FACE) is on a mission to save lives. FACE’s Executive Director Brooke Haggerty has packed her bags and hit the road with FACE mascot “Bella.” Next stops: every veterinary hospital in San Diego County. FACE is a San Diego non-profit that works with local veterinarians to save lives of pets in need of emergency care. Out of over 200 San Diego veterinary hospitals, FACE has partnered with 115 to assist critically ill or injured pets through their Save-a-Life Program. Through outreach to new potential partners, FACE hopes to expand their Save-a-Life Program to ensure that no pet is left behind.
